On Monday 18th September, I raised with the Policing Minister in the House of Commons the frustration and concern of constituents and businesses at the ongoing illegal car racing residents across the constituency are faced with; these vehicles produce terrible noise pollution and this growth in anti-social behaviour which is also dangerous must be stopped.
Unfortunately, the Labour-run Council are taking far too long to analyse the results of the recent Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) consultation and this is preventing the implementation of a PSPO which would help the situation, this process was started by the last council before the local elections.
I know how difficult this is for Kent Police to tackle, and they are facing a range of issues, so it is vital we give them the right resources also to deal with this.
I was pleased to hear the Minister say that he is urging Medway Council to get on and put the PSPO in place, and the Policing funding formula is being reviewed.
