It was an honour to attend the thanksgiving service to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Maritime Volunteer Service at All Hallows by the Tower last week with MVS Royal Patron Prince Michael of Kent, the Lord Mayor of London and Honorary President Lord West.
A great charity with more than 20 units around the UK, with our local unit of Medway & Gravesend. The charity provides training and serves our communities in times of need or in an emergency. As a former Maritime Minister I know of the great work they do around the country and as a river user locally around the Medway and Thames. It was a pleasure to attend with Cllr. Jordan Meade who is the Vice-Chairman of MVS and Cllr Habib Tejan from Rochester & Strood Medway Council, Lord Davies Shadow Secretary of State for Wales and Former Maritime Minister. Volunteering on the water and ashore and being part of a strong community is rewarding.
