Some of you may have seen that our Illegal Migration Bill has passed all its stages in Parliament, this means it will become law in the next few days and deliver on our pledge to Stop the Boats and secure our borders.
This changes the law to make it unambiguously clear that, if someone enters the UK illegally, they should not be able to remain here. Instead, those who arrive in the UK illegally will be detained and promptly removed either to their home country or to a safe country where any asylum claim will be considered.
They will no longer be able to frustrate removal attempts with late or spurious legal challenges or appeals, and once removed, will have no right to re-entry, settlement or citizenship.
Labour have fought this every step of the way, but they have been defeated.
The Government are also appealing the recent split Court of Appeal decision on the Rwanda flights to the Supreme Court.
The UK has welcomed 482,000 people via safe and legal routes since 2015, from war zones like Ukraine as well as Hong Kong and Afghanistan, where brutal crackdowns on freedom are underway.
We will always do the right thing in the world. But our welcome cannot be abused, and we must have border control.
