On Saturday 19 November, Kelly Tolhurst MP and members of her parliamentary and constituency team took part in the annual Rochester Santa Fun Run organised by the Rotary Club of Medway.
This was the eighth year in a row the event has been organised in Rochester and it was once again a great success with hundreds of Santas running and walking on a crisp November afternoon. Last year saw £15,000 raised by participants and great efforts were made again to break the 2015 total this time round.
Kelly along with her team and family all donned the red Santa suits in aid of the very worthy Children’s Hospice Holidays. Hundreds more shoppers and passers-by lined Rochester High Street to take photos and cheer as the sea of Santas went by.
Following the run Kelly said,
“The Santa Fun Run is a great event for a really good cause and sees hundreds of local residents come together with their friends and family as one community.
“The event is also great fun for everyone involved and I am pleased there were so many people in the spirit of charity and the festive season.
“I would like to congratulate the organisers of the Rotary Club of Medway for putting together a fantastic day and to all who took part in the money-raising for Children’s Hospice Holidays.”
The Fun Run was later followed by the official switch on of Rochester’s Christmas lights, with the ceremony held outside the City Wall Wine Bar by the help of Medway Mayor Stuart Tranter and Hollyoaks star Joe Tracini.
