Since election in 2015, Kelly Tolhurst MP has supported businesses of all trades across Rochester and Strood and seen first-hand the skills and work of apprenticeships on offer. Many have been educated in Medway’s local schools and colleges, but such is the success and increase of skills in the area that apprentices are now also coming from further afield.
To celebrate this success and encourage more local skilled young people to take up and apprenticeship, Rochester and Strood MP Kelly Tolhurst will host an Apprenticeship Fair on Friday 4th May 2018, 10am to 2pm at the Medway University Technical College.
So far over 25 businesses which operate within Rochester and Strood have confirmed their attendance and desire to take on new apprentices. Confirmed businesses include BAE Systems, Lloyds Bank, Kent Police, Southestern Railway, Uniper, South East Coast Ambulance Service, Superdrug and the Royal School of Military Engineering to name just a few. A full list of attending businesses can be found on my website.
This event will provide students ahead of final exams and others with a wonderful opportunity to learn new skills and add to the next generation of a business’s future and culture.
MP Kelly Tolhurst said:
“It has been with great pride to have seen the accomplishment of Rochester and Strood’s apprentices since my election back in 2015 and to see how their skills contribute towards Medway’s economic success.
“Apprenticeships are so important to those undertaking them – giving them the skills they need to succeed in life and in a role they want to progress in – and to employers, giving them the opportunity to mould and shape the workforce they need.
“I am delighted to announce I will be holding an apprenticeship fair on Friday 4th May, where businesses can showcase their apprenticeship schemes and students close to graduation and jobseekers can look to secure their futures here in Medway and help boost our local economy.”
A number of national and local apprenticeship providers have already confirmed their attendance on 4th May with more space still available to any other businesses wishing to join. For more information on Kelly’s apprenticeship fair please contact her at [email protected].
