On Friday I was able to visit the Healthy Living Centre where work has started on the reconfiguration for the new CDC in Medway, which will be used for diagnostics adding capacity to the local system getting people seen away from the hospital setting.
There will be a CT scanner and an MRI scanner at the site as well as Echogardiogram, ECG, FeNo, Spirometry, Ultra-sound, and sleep studies.
The intention is to ramp up services to provide a 7 day a week service. This will have a major impact on waiting times and accessibility for residents.
After campaigning for more services locally and getting the news from Government earlier on in the year that we were one of the areas in the first tranche roll out of CDCs it’s great to see things progressing.
A fantastically motivated team who also updated me on the Medical Equipment returns service which is also being run at the centre. If people have equipment that is no longer needed you can drop in to the healthily living centre and it can be reused, you can just take equipment in. They are also helping the Hygiene Bank and Medway Foodbank at the site.
Thanks to Tracy Bishop from the Medway & Swale Health & care partnership and Claire McCartney who manage our centres in Medway for showing me round and pushing the project forward.
