Today I had a great morning at Eastgate House, our Grade 1 listed Elizabethan house in Rochester. It was the start of its exciting £2.1 million conservation project by Medway Council in partnership with the Heritage Lottery Fund. The plans revealed today show what it will look like after the work is completed.
This project secures the future of this important historical building for the benefit of Medway as a community space and tourist attraction. There has already been some exciting new historic finds uncovered as work has begun and it was great to be able to thank the Chair of the Friends of Eastgate House, Susan Haydock, for all the support and work they have put in to the project.
