On Friday 5 August, Kelly and the local Medway branch of Citizens Advice will be piloting a joint advice and support surgery from 10am.
Kelly’s advice and support surgeries have been held regularly throughout Rochester and Strood since her election in 2015, and have resulted in positive outcomes for a number of constituents who have encountered a variety of significant and personal problems.
To help better Kelly’s assistance she will be teaming up with Citizens Advice Medway as part of a joint effort to provide the best possible advice and support to local people. Kelly believes that this unique and enhanced cooperation with Citizens Advice will improve the coordination between local sources of assistance and expertise and therefore more effectively help constituents and our community.
In advance of the surgery Kelly said,
“I am thrilled to be able to offer constituents this new opportunity to resolve various issues and grievances with the added expertise and advice of Citizens Advice Medway. Since my election as representative for Rochester and Strood, constituents have come to me with a host of different, and often challenging, problems that are known to cause personal and family strains.
In partnering with Citizens Advice Medway, I hope that together we will be able to provide the essential mix of advice and action across government and service providers to help remedy problems as quickly and carefully as possible.”
Dan McDonald, Chief Executive of Citizens Advice Medway said,
“Everybody at Citizens Advice Medway is extremely excited about this new venture. As a charity our primary objective is ensuring that the people of Medway receive the best possible advice on a whole range of issues.
We do all that we can to make our advice as accessible as possible and working in partnership with Kelly Tolhurst MP and her team will be of further benefit to the people of Rochester and Strood. We all know of the frustrations that people have when they are lumped from pillar to post just to have their problem dealt with – with us working together we hope to be able to provide a comprehensive system which will allow you to get the advice you need as easily as possible.”
