This month Rochester and Strood MP Kelly Tolhurst visited Aeromet, a local business based at Rochester Airport specialising in making aluminium plane parts for the likes of Airbus and Boeing.
Aeromet has made significant progress on its business growth and is due to expand further within Rochester by the end of the year, including the creation of an Aeromet Kent machining Centre of Excellence. The new facility will help the business carry out work for new contracts and therefore securing skilled jobs in the area for years to come.
Kelly also met with some of Aeromet’s new apprentices who started their new career journey in August. Aeromet has a strong history of apprenticeship employment and the company is already looking ahead to finding its next intake.
Following the visit Kelly said,
“Aeromet is a fantastic example of how local SMEs can contribute to some of the largest engineering projects while also developing local talent into celebrated skills of the future.
“With an exciting future ahead of it, I am pleased that Aeromet calls Rochester one of its homes and I hope its success will be shared across the community as we all seek to make Medway a destination for skills and business.
“My priority is to ensure we maintain a positive business environment so our SMEs can thrive for years to come and I look forward to working closely with them ahead of my first apprenticeships fair in the New Year.”
