Today, in connection with The Prince’s Trust, Kelly Tolhurst MP has launched a review to help support young people in making their business ideas become a reality.
The review will seek to better understand young entrepreneurs, the specific barriers and opportunities they face, and what more can be done by the private, public and third sector to support them to start and grow a business.
It will identify how best to tackle the barriers facing nearly 400,000 aspiring entrepreneurs in England – from access to finance, advice and support to how to access business networks – and how the Government can close the gap between entrepreneurial ambition and reality.
Young entrepreneurs will also be invited to join the board of the review and put forward recommendations for the Government to consider. Further details of the review board will be announced shortly.
On Monday, Kelly visited The Prince’s Trust to talk to young entrepreneurs about the review and their ambitions for the future. This was an opportunity for Kelly to hear first-hand the barriers which young people have faced in taking forward their business ideas, but also a chance to set out how the Government plans to continue supporting young entrepreneurship throughout the country.
