The Cuxton winery appeal has been dismissed. The Planning Inspector has today (24/07/2023) announced his decision to dismiss the appeal to the council’s planning committees decision to refuse the application. Thanks to Cllr Matt Fearn, the Parish Council and the community who have worked together on this issue.
The Planning Inspector found that the winery would have a significant adverse impact on the site and it’s wider landscape - Conserving and enhancing the landscape and scenic beauty of the Kent Downs AONB is afforded much weight, the Inspectors decision was based on a requirement that major development in the AONB should be in the Public Interest and the application did not meet that test.
