Tuesday evening was the official opening of the Royal Crown, Rochester following a £1.2m transformation by Shepherd Neame, Britain and Kent’s oldest brewer. The Dean of Rochester Cathedral, the Very Reverend Philip Hesketh pulled the first pint and blessed the pub. The team have done a fantastic job and it is great to have this kind of investment and commitment in our high street. I have used the Royal Crown myself for more years than I care to remember, so it is so good to see it have a new lease of life with a remarkable refurbishment. Jonathan Neame CEO at the opening, also very kindly donated £1,000 to The Medway Queen Preservation Society (Dunkirk Little Ship) and £1,000 to the Rochester Christmas Lights Legacy Fund, organised by the High Street Forum which was launched in November. #Rochester #GreatBritishPubs
