Yesterday I was delighted to be joined by Claire Perry MP, Minister for Rail, and representatives from Network Rail and Southeastern to open the new railways station in Rochester. The station is now located in a more central location with better transport links than its predecessor, as well as a longer platform allowing 12-car trains to stop at the station. This will go some way towards helping make residents’ commutes that bit easier.
Rochester’s new station is a key part of the regeneration of the riverside and will also attract more people to come and visit our city. It was also great to see it open on schedule and full of passengers for the first time.
In April 2016, the signal box at Rochester will be removed and a third platform introduced at the station, increasing flexibility and improving reliability.
The five extra trains depart Rochester at:
0650 to Victoria
0722 to Victoria
0726 to Cannon Street
0749 to Victoria
0752 to Cannon Street
The 1815 Cannon Street to Ramsgate will call at Rochester on its way out of London.
